September 2009
The 2009/2010 season will see big changes for Team Williams Racing. Shane will be making the step up from racing the Nissan to taking over the driving duties in the Camaro. This would be an enviable task for most onlookers but I'm sure Shane will be relishing the opportunity and will no doubt also be very successful.
His first race in the Camaro will be on the 27th September which will be used  as a lead-up to the Ron Silvester Memorial meeting in November. The top north island cars are expected to compete at this event which is also to be televised nationwide.

April 2005
Ryan & Shane are both now racing in the South Island driving their seal track race cars. Ryans being a Honda Accord and Shanes being a Nissan Sentra. Ryan has competed with the adults in his motor-racing debut and been found to be very competitive and amazed several of the older competitors. Shane has found to be very forceful in his driving style resulting in good success along with a rebuild to the Nissan. Paul has sat back to concentrate on his families racing and let Nigel Sheppard take over the driving duties in the Morris Lubricants Trans-Am Camaro. Nigel has just completed the OSCA GT1 Championship and finished 1st overall which is very encouraging for his first season in the car. We now begin the off-season rebuild and look forward to running in the new NZ Trans-Am Championship format due to start in Oct 05.

July 2004
It might be winter time at the home of Paul Williams Racing, but it is far from being a quiet time of the year.

The Morris Lubricants Camaro is getting an end to end check out so that it will be ready to roll out in its usual immaculate red and white team colours at the start of the new season.

The big news is that the car will be driven in the 2004/05 season by the current New Zealand Superkart Champion Nigel Shepherd.

Nigel has been a big part of the support team at Paul Williams Racing and next year will be making the big step up into the hot seat.

Nigel sure has what it takes behind the wheel as well as the technical skills to be able to extract the best from the Morris Lubricants Camaro. Don’t miss this exciting combination when they hit the circuit later in the year, just look out for the big blue Morris Lubricants Truck in the pits.

What for Paul Williams himself??

Well the plan was for Paul to fully get behind the racing activities of sons Ryan and Shane and support their formative racing experiences.

The boys have been seen recently at the June club day at Timaru, both giving good accounts of themselves and keeping Dad on the go all day.

The Paul Williams Racing Honda ran like a top all day other than a small crack in an exhaust header which sounded worse than it was.

Can Paul Williams possibly go through a season of motor racing and not strap himself behind a steering wheel? Somehow I doubt it.

Look closely at the photo of the Morris Lubricants Camaro and what is that yellow object to the right of the photo?, is it a submarine? I think not.

All I can tell you is that it does have wheels and is a serious race car. The yellow will soon give way to the familiar red and white team colours. Paul will be seen this season with additional backing from Auto Zone the friendly parts people in Kaiapoi.

That’s all I can tell ya at this time or I might get a tap on the shoulder so you will have to check back a bit later and find out what Paul is really up to this season.

Regards ... Brent Thomas

February 2004

We entered the lady wigram championship meeting running in the OSCA races.  A good field of 19 cars had entered.  The first race was a rolling start with us on the front row beside the Tranzam of Eddie Fairburn.  We realised the difference between a six litre motor and our five litre as when the flag dropped we were out dragged.  We went into the first corner in third place.  This is where we sat until the end of the race, although we actually produced the fasted lap time of any car in the race.  The second race was a reverse grid and we started at the rear.  We had an exceptional start compared with the rest of the field and we won by a handsome margin.  The third race we started on a 50 second handicap with six other top OSCA cars.  This is the type of racing that I really enjoy as we have to really work very hard to catch the field.  The car handled excellently and even though we spun on some spilled oil from another car we still finished in second place.  Our morris lubricants camaro did our selves proud this weekend.  Between the second and the third race the great crew that I have got removed the gearbox and altered the ratios to get a better performance.  This worked perfect.    The next round is in Teretonga on the 20 and 21 March 2004.   One of our pit crew, Nigel Shepherd run his super cart in the New Zealand Championship on the 8th February 2004 and we are most pleased to congratulate him on winning the New Zealand Championship.  He also lowered the track record in doing so.  Good on you Nigel.

January 2004

Well it has been an interesting beginning to the season.  The meeting at Timaru in January saw us turn up with the right third gear ratio for the gearbox.  This, we were hoping, would make a significant difference.  We were happy with the change as we got on the fast pace of the front runners.  In the first race we started on gird six and afer a big off at the end of the main straight, due to oil on the track from the truck racing in the previous race, we came in a credable fourth. In the second race we also finished fourth which was a handicap race.  We started 30 seconds behind the start bunch of cars.  We also encountered a patch of oil on the track from Dennis Runnings Tranzam in which he had totally destroyed his diff housing.  The final race of the weekend was the best and with only two laps to go the left rear axle broke.  If this had not happened we were confident of receiving first place.  Overall we were very pleased with the weekends racing, considering the track conditions.  Every race, we unfortunately started after the trucks had been racing and there was a big build up of oil and diesel on the track.

October 2003

We have now secured a major sponsor, Morris Lubricants  for our racing Season. They have been instrumental in supplying a top quality Fully Synthetic Engine Oil specially formulated for our Racing Application. They have a full range of Specific Racing Lubricants that fulfil all of our needs. All of these products are now becoming available through out New Zealand. The car has been sign written and it looks a treat. We ran the car on the 5th October and had a shake down of how the car will perform etc, and were very pleased with the results, admittedly We did not have much top competition, but can not complain about 3 wins out of 3 starts. We will be running the Morris Lubricants Camaro in the Trans Tasman round of racing at Ruapuna against the Australian V8 cars on the 18th – 19th October 03 the following weekend we are intending to again compete against the Australians at The Levels Raceway Timaru. We will advise of results after each meeting.

Footnote: Morris Lubricants is still a family owned company and has been going since 1869 (134 years) It is also Currently ranked 94 out of the top 10,000 most profitable private companies in Britain

June 2003

Ryan has just got a new Toyota FX GT race car in which he is learning his race craft in. Ryan is one of the few young kids that have sat and passed his full race licence at the age of 12.  Ryan will be competing in speed events and club days at Ruapuna. He is very pleased having received some sponsorship from Morris Oils.

The other news is that Paul has purchased the entire race package from the american based Bruce Jenner which includes the tranzam camaro that Steven Johnson drove in the NZ tranzam championships.  This is a very competitive car.  Pauls debut in this car will be the V8 endurance race at Ruapuna in October.

April 2001

Sue Williams turned 40 on the day of final race meeting of the season so the team marked the occasion with special signage on the car for the night. We felt it was only fair that everyone at the track got to know it was Sue's birthday.

A compressor wasn't freely available at the Nelson track so we got Production Saloon driver Pam Nees to manually inflate the tyres using a small foot pump.
This produced a bit of humour for the surrounding pit crews.
